Custom-routed ceiling tiles
For some time now, we have been wanting to explore the possibilities of carving unique designs into ceiling tiles. Recently, we decided to come in on a Saturday and see what we could come up with. This design is a computer-generated Voronoi diagram. We scaled the pattern up so that it would appear to stretch across all 15 tiles that comprise the ceiling of the entryway. Then we machined each tile on the CNC router to a perfect fit in the grid. Finally, we installed two LED bulbs on the ceiling above the tiles and stretched plastic screens to soften the light coming through the tiles.
